The items below make it clear that those who are calling the shots at Ground Zero occupy a separate reality from the vast majority of Americans of all ages, races, and politics. The press release by a leading 9/11 Families group and the “Ground Zero travesty” letters to the New York Post editor are full of common sense and decency. The photo that museum officials tried to marginalize reflected the American people’s spirit like no other image. That is why it was chosen for the stamp tribute a year later. What the current controversy makes crystal clear is that the National Parks Service is a much more fitting overseer of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum than the out-of-touch Bloomberg cohort.
